In North America, for example, Danzer Group manages its own forests totalling 48,000 acres (20,000 hectares) to secure a long-term supply of high-quality wood. Danzer Group’s African subsidiaries IFO (Republic of Congo Brazzaville) and SIFORCO (Democratic Republic of Congo) manage a combined total forest area of 7.9 million acres (3.2 million hectares). The companies harvest only 0.16 cubic yards (0.12 cubic meters) of timber per hectare.
