Danzer Group is directly involved in forest management in North America and Africa. In North America, for example, Danzer Group manages its own forests totalling 48,000 acres (20,000 hectares) to secure a long-term supply of high-quality wood. Danzer Group’s African subsidiaries IFO (Republic of Congo Brazzaville) and SIFORCO (Democratic Republic of Congo) manage a combined total forest area of 7.9 million acres (3.2 million hectares). The companies harvest only 0.16 cubic yards (0.12 cubic meters) of timber per hectare. In terms of forest area, this is only one-eighth as much as is harvested in the temperate forests of North America and Europe. Independent certification confirms that Danzer Group`s forest management and wood procurement is lawfully.
