Chain of Custody certificates
Danzer Group has obtained certificates for the Chain of Custody (CoC) in accordance with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), SFI (Sustainable Forest Initiative) and PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification). This means, Vinterio is authorized to manufacture products originating from forests certified as "sustainable" or "well-managed". The availability depends on supply and customer demand. Danzer Group offers high reliability and transparency because an independent inspection company audits the systems regularly.
Legality Certificates
Timber from the forest concessions of Danzer Group’s African subsidiaries IFO (Republic of Congo Brazzaville) and SIFORCO (Democratic Republic of Congo) has been legality verified according to the TLTV-Standard of Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS), the world’s largest inspection and certification company (see www.sgs.com/forestry).
These certificates confirm that all timber from Danzer Group's African concessions is of legal origin. It encompasses adherence to legal regulations with respect to forest management, timber processing, sales and marketing, workers’ rights and rights of the local population. SGS also verified that IFO and SIFORCO have paid taxes and made social contributions such as schools and hospitals. Certification also confirmed that all required licenses and documentation have been properly obtained and managed.
FSC-Certification of African concessions
After approval of the forest management by the Congolese authorities, Danzer Group plans to certify the IFO-concession in Congo Brazzaville to get FSC-certified during 2008. At SIFORCO in Congo-Kinshasa, the FSC-implementation process is started.
